Our Story

Hey, I'm Josh ๐Ÿ‘‹

I grew up in Knysna, a small town in South Africa.

In 2015, I started traveling and visited 50+ countries.

Wherever I went, one thing kept happening.

Whenever I met someone Jewish, especially Israeli, there was an instant connection.

Some of my best memories came from moments like these.

Randomly meeting someone Jewish, getting invited for Shabbat dinner, and soon after, feeling like family.

It made me ask, what does it mean to be Jewish?

So I went searching for the answer.

In 2020, I made Aliyah.

And something clicked.

I felt it again, how our traditions naturally connect us.

For me, that's what being Jewish really means.

Being part of a people whose traditions bring us together, no matter where you are in the world.

But since October 7, being Jewish or Israeli abroad feels different.

We've all felt that hesitation while traveling, wondering if it's safe to be openly Jewish or Israeli.

That's why I created OneBayit.

A simple, trusted way to connect with Jewish hosts around the world.

One request, and strangers become mishpocha ๐Ÿ’™

Welcome to OneBayit.
